Benefits of Early Confirmation Ultrasounds

Table Of Contents

Not sure whether you’re pregnant or not? Over the counter pregnancy tests are messy and inaccurate. They also leave a lot of information off the table.

With a pregnancy confirmation ultrasound, you will instantly know if you’re pregnant or not—and may even gain additional information about your pregnancy that no stick test will ever give you.

How does an early confirmation ultrasound work?

Like most ultrasounds, early confirmation ultrasounds work by using HF sound waves to create images of your uterus. The result is a real-time image.

Early in the pregnancy you won’t see much: you’ll usually only see a small gestational sac or yolk sac. Nevertheless, the presence of these signs is enough to reveal a pregnancy in progress.

Can early confirmation ultrasounds help me determine my due date?

    Yes!

We know determining your due date isn’t always as straightforward as tracking back to your last missed period. Early confirmation ultrasounds give you much more accurate information by showing us what stage of fetal development your baby is currently undergoing.

That information can be used to pinpoint what week you’re on, which in turn can help us estimate a highly accurate due date.

Can early confirmation ultrasounds detect twins or triplets?

Absolutely! We’ll be able to see all the babies that are baking in there. If you’re gonna need a bigger nursery and doubles of all your supplies, we’ll be able to give you an early heads up.

Will an early confirmation ultrasound detect pregnancy complications?

    It can.

We can see signs of ectopic and molar pregnancies.

If we see those signs, we’ll refer you to your doctor right away so you can decide on your next steps.

But fear not! We don’t see these complications very often. Most parents go on to share a sense of joy and comfort knowing their new baby is doing great and is on the way.

How soon can I get my pregnancy confirmation ultrasound?

We can get to work as early as 6 weeks’ gestation, or two weeks after your first missed period. And at 7 weeks, we can generally find the fetal heartbeat too (a great time to get a fetal heartbeat keepsake made).

We conduct these ultrasounds here at our clinic, and make your comfort and well-being our top priority. If you think you may be pregnant, schedule an appointment with our team today!
